Abstract

As a result of the rapid development of military science and especially military technology, new terms and terminological combinations are emerging in the language. The terminological layer of the lexicon is increasingly becoming an element of military literature, and its rapid development necessitates the unification of terminology and its use according to established rules. This, in turn, sets the task of studying both root and derived terms within the military terminology system. The section on word formation is considered a relatively young field in linguistics. Therefore, its position among the linguistic levels has not been sufficiently established. Sometimes word formation is studied as part of lexicology, and sometimes it is viewed as part of grammar. An important feature that distinguishes the study of word formation from other sections that examine the word as an object is that this section studies not all words, but only derived words.
